Intel Becomes the First to Complete Semiconductor Tools Donation to Vietnam for Education

Ho Chi Minh City, May 5th, 2026 – Intel today announced the handover of 31 pieces of its chip Assembly and Test equipment to the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) and Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNU Hanoi) to support semiconductor training and research activities in Vietnam, following the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Intel and SHTP.
With this initiative, Intel has become the first enterprise in Vietnam to repurpose semiconductor manufacturing tools for educational and research purposes, reinforcing its long-term commitment to advancing the country’s semiconductor ecosystem under its vision of “Create a future of Intel and Vietnam”. The donation aligns closely with Vietnam’s national semiconductor strategy under the Government’s Decision No. 1018/QĐ-TTg, which targets the development of a skilled semiconductor workforce by 2030 with a vision toward 2050.
“Vietnam is emerging as a critical hub in the global semiconductor value chain, and talent development remains a foundational priority,” said Kenneth Tse, Vice President, General Manager of Intel Products Vietnam. “As Intel marks 20 years of presence in the country, this initiative reflects our continued commitment to supporting Vietnam’s next phase of growth. By contributing tangible resources, we aim to empower institutions to deliver hands-on, industry-relevant training, bridge the gap between academia and practical manufacturing, and accelerate workforce readiness to support Vietnam’s long-term semiconductor ambitions.”
The program provides hands-on access to specialized equipment, bridging academic learning and industry practice – especially in chip packaging and testing – while helping SHTP and VNU Hanoi build an end-to-end semiconductor training capability from design through assembly and test, and expanding applied learning and research access for future workforce. This also optimizes existing assets, reducing the need for new public investment in costly training infrastructure, accelerating institutional readiness, and enabling rapid upskilling and reskilling through SHTP’s training center for engineers.
